Construction has commenced on Mueller’s newest apartments! The community, which is being developed by AMLI Residential, broke ground in June and will be home to 279 energy-efficient apartments. The new community, located near Lake Park and The Thinkery (formerly the Austin’s Children’s Museum) at the corner of Simond Avenue and Mattie Street, supports Mueller’s continuing sustainability and green building efforts. The community is set to receive U.S.G.B.C. LEED Gold certification as well as certification in the Austin Energy Green Building program.
Homes will include energy-efficient plumbing, appliances, electrical fixtures, HVAC and programmable thermostats. The community will further contribute to sustainability with xeriscaping using drought-tolerant planting.
Preleasing is anticipated to begin late 2014/early 2015. Staying true to Mueller’s goals, apartments will be reserved for the Mueller Affordable Homes Program, offering rentals for families who earn 60% or less of the Austin Median Family Income.
The apartments will feature many top-of-the-line amenities such as granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and walk-in closets. And community amenities include a fitness studio, a business and conference center, Wi-Fi, a club and gaming lounge, a resort-style pool and private sundeck. There is also approximately 8,000 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail space along Simond Blvd. facing Lake Park.
