There are currently six commercial buildings in Austin that have earned a five-star rating (the highest rating) in Austin Energy’s nationally recognized Green Building program, and Mueller is now home to three of them. This month, the AISD Performing Arts Center (PAC) achieved the impressive five-star ranking thanks to the District’s long-term commitment to sustainability.
The AISD Performing Arts Center earned head-of-the-class scores:
Two other buildings in Mueller have five-star status, including the original Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas and the hospital’s recently added W.H. and Elaine McCarty South Tower, along with seventy-six, five-star single-family homes.
In addition to hundreds of Austin Energy Green Building ratings, Mueller now has 13 buildings that have earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, making Mueller one of the country’s most prolific communities for LEED certification. These buildings include the Ronald McDonald House, Dell Pediatric Institute, SEDL, Seton, Wildflower Terrace, Mueller Central, the Thinkery and AMLI at Mueller, among others. Other certifications are pending and future buildings will likely also exceed Mueller’s high green building standards.
