Mueller will be partnering with Texas Parks and Wildlife to host their second annual community fishing event, Hooked On Mueller. Together, they have worked to stock Mueller Lake with 2,000 rainbow trout for the event. Each year, the Inland and Coastal Fisheries divisions of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department stock approximately 40 million fish in public lakes, ponds and saltwater bays to provide catchable-size fish for educational activities.
Texas Parks and Wildlife works to stock community fishing lakes all over the state of Texas with trout and catfish each year. Austin native, Jimmy Peace, brought the idea to Mueller’s attention after hearing about ponds being stocked nearby in Georgetown and Temple. Peace dreamed of an intercity lake that would allow Austin locals to fish during every season. After connecting Mueller with Texas Parks and Wildlife to have the lake stocked with fish, Peace is pleased with the natural environment Mueller has created around Lake Park.
Peace has been fishing at Mueller Lake Pond for about four years and often shares his ideas with Mueller for the pond and grounds. While he enjoys fishing all over the pond, his go-to spot is the white wall near the east end of Lake Park. Peace and many families in the community can now experience nature in their own backyards thanks to Texas Parks and Wildlife’s effort to stock this lake with fish.
Peace himself will be attending Hooked on Mueller on Sunday, Feb. 8, and is looking forward to fishing! No official licenses or permits are necessary, and the event is free to the public. Learn more about the event on our Facebook event page. We hope to see you there, too!
