Out-of-towners coming to visit Austin will soon be able to stay at Mueller thanks to a new 112-room Residence Inn by Marriott. The hotel is expected to break ground in the first quarter of 2012 and open in spring 2013.
The developer of the hotel – developer of the first LEED-certified hotel in the U.S. – is aiming for the new Marriott at Mueller to be the first Texas LEED-gold-certified hotel. This aligns with Mueller’s sustainability goals as the largest neighborhood in the U.S. and first in Texas to achieve LEED certification.
Located on the southwest corner of Lancaster Drive and 51st Street, the four-story hotel will feature one- and two-bedroom suites and studios to accommodate leisure and business travelers with longer stays and will also be situated to conveniently serve families at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. Amenities will include flat-screen TVs, a fitness center, a salt-water pool, on-site laundry and dry cleaning, a 24-hour market for simple groceries and free high-speed Internet in all rooms and the business center.
In keeping with Mueller’s overall master plan, the hotel is designed with approximately 3,000 square feet of separately accessible ground-floor retail space along 51st Street and Lancaster Drive.
