The holiday season is here and we’re getting ready to celebrate in true Mueller style! On Tuesday, November 29 from 6 to 8 p.m., we’re hosting the sixth annual tower lighting ceremony and everyone is invited! We’ll be serving up hot chocolate and other refreshments, along with sweet treats and performances by the Reagan High School band’s drum line and Maplewood Elementary’s World Drumming ensemble.
Austin City Councilmember Bill Spelman will join us to celebrate this Mueller tradition, taking place along Berkman Drive near Tom Miller Street. You can decorate a special keepsake and take a holiday photo with your family and friends!
The tradition of lighting the tower with NOEL began in 1961 when construction of the airport control tower was completed and continued until the airport closed in 1999 with only brief interruption in the 1970s during the energy crisis. Catellus commissioned a replica display to reestablish the tradition for Mueller and the city in 2006, once again celebrating each year.
