  More Houses on the Way
More Houses on the WayAs the very first residents settle in and begin officially calling Mueller home, we are clearing the way for our second residential phase.

Construction on the approximately 360 houses that will make up Mueller’s second phase is slated to begin this summer with move-ins targeted for early 2009. The lots are located just east of the first phase site, bordered roughly by Simond, Berkman, Antone, Hermalinda, Tom Miller and Mattie streets.

This second phase will feature yard, row and garden court homes and will likely later introduce two exciting new home styles—Shop Houses and Mueller Houses. Shop Houses feature smaller retail spaces on the ground floor with connected living units above while Mueller Houses are a unique home type that combines four to six (condo/ownership) homes designed to appear as one, large single-family home. Look for more information about these new home styles and other residential opportunities later this spring.

  Second Simmons Vedder Complex Planned

The range of housing options at Mueller continues to grow with the announcement of Austin-based developer Simmons Vedder & Company’s plans for a second mixed-use, multi-family community adjacent to the future town center.

The 300 apartment homes will be located a block north of Mosaic at Mueller, Simmons Vedder’s first apartment complex in the neighborhood, currently under construction at Aldrich and Ragsdale streets. The new project will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom residences, two-story live-work units with commercial space on the ground floor, an amenities center, and a pool.

Second Simmons Vedder Complex

The project is set to break ground in the summer of 2008 and reach completion in 2010. Ten percent of the apartments will be designated affordable and reserved for families making 60 percent or less of Austin’s median family income. The project will also achieve at least a two-star rating in Austin Energy’s Green Building Program.
