Minority and Women-Owned Businesses
Mueller is guided by a community vision to create and support diversity and opportunity in Austin. A key component of that commitment is ensuring the maximum possible participation by local, minority- and women-owned businesses in construction contracts and as tenants and investors.
Mueller includes two types of construction projects:
Master development projects. These include infrastructure and site work projects — roads and utilities, parks development, etc. — that are undertaken by Catellus as the Mueller master developer. General contractors on these projects work directly with Catellus and are required by Catellus policy to use good-faith efforts to maximize M/WBE participation. This requirement is consistent with and controlled by Catellus' agreements with the City of Austin.
No new projects are scheduled at this time. Upcoming construction projects will be announced on this page as they are scheduled. Plans for current and upcoming master development projects are also made available through the City of Austin's Department of Small and Minority Business Resources.
Vertical development projects. These include construction of homes, commercial and retail buildings, and other elements of the Mueller community. These are undertaken by a variety of developers, including Catellus (for projects such as Mueller's regional retail center) as well as others. These projects are not governed by the terms of Catellus' M/WBE policy, but are nonetheless encouraged to use all available and reasonable means to ensure optimal M/WBE participation.
